SENIORS' AT-HOME TOOLBOX FOR SOCIAL DISTANCING

If you are experiencing any health concerns with respect to the Coronavirus, please contact 811 immediately.   Please contact your Pharmacy if you have concerns about getting medications.  Your Pharmacist is the best resource to talk to about home delivery of medications.

Contact local grocery stores to see which ones deliver.  You can contact Liberty Foods at 250-367-9911

Contact restaurants to see who delivers meals.  There are restaurants that are now delivering because of the Coronavirus.

THINGS TO DO WHILE SELF-ISOLATING

Message from Beaver Valley Public Library
Did you know that while you are self-isolating you can still access online e and audiobooks, learn new languages or register for free online courses via the library website?

Library-to-Go (e and audio books):  https://beavervalley.bc.libraries.coop/…/download-ebooks-a…/
Pronunciator (learn languages):  http://learning.pronunciator.com/getstarted.php…
Gale Courses (free online learning):  https://beavervalley.bc.libraries.coop/resear…/gale-courses/

Message from the Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy - Trail and Area
As of March 16, CBAL is cancelling all programming. Even though our face-to-face programs are on hold, we are busy preparing for new online ones. We are excited about launching a series of online programs for families, adults and English language learners – it’s one way we can help to make “social distancing” a little less lonely! We will keep you posted.

Active Aging: Check out the following website for seniors. It has a lot of great information: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/family-social-supports/seniors/health-safety/active-aging

Other at-home activities:
Puzzles, Knitting/crocheting, Board Games, Watch old movies, Baking, Crafts, Reading, Journaling https://www.hearthsideseniorliving.com/journal-prompts-for-seniors/

REMEMBER:
The more we separate from one another, the better chances we give to those with compromised immune systems to stay healthy.  Attached is a video demonstrating the benefit of social  distancing and self-isolating and how this helps our health care system take care of those most in need of assistance. This article was published by The Washington Post.  https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2020/world/corona-simulator/?fbclid=IwAR2H2DMLMUv1zx1hkB9xO_-vRrlRyHTsLPwUn1yIw_w6pap62QRRfwfWwsk

In this time may you all find helpful supports and creative ways to enjoy your quiet time at home. We won’t let fear overcome us as we strive to grow in peace and strength through this season.  Many of you know each another and please check in with one another through a call.  That is what community is all about!
